The 5 Things I Loved Most About Photographing Emily and Max’s Boise Wedding at The Flats 16!
1. The Weather
Emily and Max’s Boise Wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful! I am a huge sucker for sunshine and I’d be ok if it were 85 degrees all year long and never rained or snowed. One of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer is the excuse to be in the sun shine and fresh air all day long. So between the sun, the smiles, and dancing this was pretty much the perfect day!
2. The People
One thing that I (well we) have loved about Emily and Max since the moment we met them: they are so genuinely nice, bubbly, and considerate. I feel like those are rare qualities these days! They are such a breath of fresh air to be around! And the coolest thing about their wedding day, it wasn’t just them! Oh my goodness, her Grandpa and Grandma were the best! Not just photographing, but hanging out with their families was like going home and spending the holidays with my family. They were fun and funny, kind and generous. Actually, that’s one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer: by the end of the day it’s like we are saying goodbye to OUR families. Actually we get more hugs and gratitude in one day at a wedding than we do in a month at home, although we really try to keep gratitude and praise in our hearts and mouth as often as possible.
3. Their Love Story
Bryan and I love the outdoors. Growing up, my family had property about an hour out of town and camped there almost every weekend. Now I must say that Bryan’s love for the outdoors is a little different. He really enjoys the activities that involve a motor of some sort. Boating. Snowmobiling. Some day he wants to own a plane. I guess a drone will have to do for now lol!
Emily and Max love the outdoors too! In fact, he proposed at the top of Mores Mountain near Bogus Basin, which is like a dream! Max is really into biking as well. A big chunk of their engagement photos were taken with his bike which was super fun!
Actually, they have a really cute love story. I am also a sucker for a good love story! They met in high school during a Science Club trip to the Bruneau Sand Dunes (ps if you’ve never been there you need to make it a priority to go anytime except July or August, it’s way too hot then!) Oh did I mention they are not only really nice but also very smart? I was definitely not in the science club in high school. But according to Emily, Max was trying the whole time to impress her with his guitar skills and knowledge of the stars to get her attention. That’s so cute!
4. Their Personalities
Silliness is also a quality that I admire in people. In fact, other than me, Bryan is the silliest person I know and I absolutely love him for that. It allows me to feel like I can be myself completely without worrying about self doubts or insecurities.
And I’m not sure if I’ve met or photographed a sillier bunch than these guys’ wedding party. At one point there were like 15 people on the dance floor singing every single word to “And We Danced” by Macklemore. It was impressive, and crazy and epic all at once. I had never even heard the song before and they were spitting lyrics like nobody’s business. Mainly it made me so happy for Emily + Max because I could tell that they had found their tribe, the people that they can be themselves around, no matter what.
5. Their Exit
From a wedding photographer’s perspective you can’t go wrong with a special exit! I love them. They are the perfect ending to a perfect day, they are always fun, and they leave a lasting impression on the guests. Not to mention that they make for some incredible images and really add a special something to the final album!
And at the end of the night I left with a massive smile on my face, a better relationship with my husband, and some really good friends! We love you Emily + Max!
